The women sent a small contingent to New York to compete in the distance medley championship against schools from all over the country. The Big Green claimed a hard fought second-place finish over the University of Connecticut Huskies and right behind the University of Arkansas Razorbacks.

The medley event features four separate legs of 400 through 1600-meter runs. Alexi Pappas '12, Abbey D'Agostino '14, Christina Supino '12 and Megan Krumpoch '14 demonstrated a spectacular showing for Dartmouth in the face of national competition, breaking the Dartmouth record in the event by almost 11 seconds with a time of 11:05.67.

"I thought it was a really intense meet," Supino said. "It was great getting the chance to compete against big-name programs like Tennessee and Arkansas. It was really great to be there as a team instead of as an individual and perform well."

The rest of the team followed suit on Saturday at the Indoor Classic non-scoring meet, cruising to many first place and top-three finishes against competitors from schools in the region, including the University of New Hampshire, Quinnipiac University, the University of Vermont and Middlebury College.

The shot put event featured an all-Big Green top-three finish by Emmaline Berg '13. Berg's winning throw was over four feet farther than any of the competition's. Christina Alexander '11 and Corinne Kominkiewicz '14 rounded out the top three for the Big Green sweep.

The Dartmouth women also dominated in the running events. Naomi Stahl '12 and Isabella Terhorst '14 claimed the top two spots in the 400-meter race, with Stahl finishing in under a minute. Meggie Donovan '15 cruised to victory in the 500 meters, with teammate Caroline Buck '13 finishing third. Erica Hendershot '15 also claimed victory in the triple jump competition.

Buck is a member of The Dartmouth Staff.

Renee Domozych '12 placed first in the 800 meter a half-second ahead of the rest of the field, while Elizabeth Short '12 claimed fourth place with a time of 5:10.99 to lead the Big Green in the mile.

Dartmouth also placed impressively in the pole vault and long jump competitions. Janae Dunchack '14 took the long jump for the Big Green and also claimed second place in the 60-meter hurdles.

The Dartmouth men's team also posted an impressive showing in many events, especially sprints. Connor Reilly '13, Tyrone DeSpenza '13 and Brett Buskey '15 dominated the men's 60-meter dash. Reilly's 6.94-second time was the only finish under seven seconds in the entire event, with Buskey coming closest at seven seconds flat. Jalil Bishop '14 won the 200-meter competition with a time of 22.65, finishing on top in a large field of competitors.

The Big Green men also claimed many victories and good finishes in distance running. Evan Bryant '12 was victorious in the 500 meter race, finishing with a time of 1:06.54. Lukas Zirngibl '14 also claimed first place in the 800 meter.

Will Callan '15, who had a 2:33.16 finish in the 1,000-meter race, edged out the second-place finisher by one half of a second for a Big Green victory.

Dartmouth dominated the 4x400 meter relay, with Kevin Crowley '13 and Brendin Beaulieu-Jones '13 joining Bryant and Bishop to form a strong Big Green team. The second place finishers were over 3.5 seconds behind the victorious Dartmouth team.

Dartmouth was also able to find success on the field. Joshua Cyphers '14 claimed second place in the pole-vaulting competition, while Dom Filiano '14 came in second in the men's shot put.

The Dartmouth track and field teams hope to continue their hot streak this coming weekend in Seattle, where the University of Washington is hosting the Husky Classic.
