The teams were very well matched during regulation play, and the women appeared to play especially cautiously in the game. Although the first half opened with offensive pressure by both sides, neither team capitalized on its scoring chances.

Goalie Tatiana Saunders '15 played a stellar game against the consistent Brown offense, totaling six saves in the loss. Saunders opened the half by snagging a ball out of the air with two Brown players charging directly at her, and returned with a curling punt that sailed down midfield.

Bears freshman goalie Amber Bledsoe and Big Green forward Tasha Wilkins '15 collided about 15 minutes into the game on an attempted goal. The ball went sailing over the net, but Wilkins remained on the ground and was then taken off the field.

The Big Green (2-6-0, 0-1-0 Ivy) has so far failed to find its rhythm on offense this season, and the loss of Wilkins who alone has scored two of the team's four goals since it opened play on Sept. 2 compounded Dartmouth's struggles.

Brown (5-2-1, 1-0-0 Ivy) failed to capitalize on several goal opportunities in the first half and did not get off a clean shot during the entire period. Brown sophomore Mika Siegelman managed to beat Dartmouth defender Kate Castillo '15 and play a ball to sophomore Maddie Wiener, but Wiener's shot was deflected by Saunders.

Saunders was soon tested again by a strong left-footed shot, but she saved without giving up the rebound.

Both Aly O'Dea '12 and Amanda Flugstad-Clark '15 made attempts on goal to no avail. Dartmouth's last attempt at a goal in the first half came on a corner kick by Marina Moschitto '14. The kick found Laura Thurber '15, but she headed it wide.

In the second half, Brown senior Allison Kagawa broke away from the Big Green defense but was stopped by co-captain Erin Fleischli '12. Flieshli took an excellent angle on the speeding Kagawa, a First Team All-Ivy player, and managed to steal the ball back.

O'Dea attempted to rally the team with two attempted shots against Brown sophomore goalie M.C. Barrett, but Barrett managed to save both shots.

The two teams continued to play defensively overall in the second half, again failing to score and sending the match to a 10-minute sudden-death overtime period.

The frame began with a foul by Brown on Chrissy Lozier '14, resulting in a free kick. Lozier struck an impressive shot, but Barrett lunged to the left for the save.

Dartmouth increased its intensity in overtime, taking several shots and remaining on the attack.

About six minutes into the period, Castillo stormed through the Brown defense and took a shot, but it went wide to the left.

After 98 minutes of play, Wiener walked right into the goal box and played the ball to the right. Saunders came off her line, leaving the right corner open and allowing Brown to win the game.

The game's emotional toll appeared visible on several players' faces after the game, which was the second the Big Green has lost in overtime this season. Dartmouth also fell to Rutgers University in overtime, 1-0, on Sept. 11.

The Big Green returns home to Burnham Field for a non-conference game against the University of Massachusetts on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
