Men's hockey goaltender James Mello '12 was named the MLX Skates Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Goalie of the Week on Feb. 15, according to DartmouthSports.com. The award, given for his performances against Quinnipiac University and Princeton University last weekend, was the third ECAC Goalie of the Week award Mello has won this season. Mello allowed two goals total and recorded a 0.962 save percentage in the games. He currently leads the ECAC with a 2.00 goals-against average and a 0.936 save percentage this season. Mello was also named one of 15 semi-finalists for the Walter Brown Award, which is presented annually to the best American-born collegiate hockey player in New England, last week by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston. Mello is Dartmouth's first nominee for the award since forward Adam Estoclet '11 was a semi-finalist in the 2008-2009 season, according to DartmouthSports.
Women's hockey goaltender Lindsay Holdcroft '14 was named the MLX Skates ECAC Goaltender of the Week on Feb. 15, according to DartmouthSports.com. This marks the first time Holdcroft has won the award, although she has been recognized by the ECAC as the conference's rookie of the week twice before. Holdcroft earned the award for her stellar performances against St. Lawrence University on Feb. 11 and Clarkson University on Feb. 12. During these games, Holdcroft combined for 57 saves on 60 shots, including a career-high 38 saves in the game against St. Lawrence, a 3-2 victory.
Sam Tarling '13 and Monica Adler '14 were named this week's Cross High Performance Athletes of the Week on Feb. 16, according to DartmouthSports.com. Adler finished third in the 1000-meter race last weekend at the Valentine Invitational, setting a new Dartmouth record with a time of 2:49.41 and beating the previous record by 0.15 seconds. Adler was also a member of the winning distance medley relay team that bested top-seeded North Carolina State University. The relay team also included Alex Tanner '11, Chrissy Supino '12 and Arianna Vailas '14. Tarling swept the men's Nordic skiing events at the Dartmouth Winter Carnival last weekend, where he won the 10-kilometer freestyle with a time of 24:17.5 and placed first in the 20-kilometer classic event with a time of 1:00:31.3. His performances helped the Big Green earn the most points in each event and finish second in the overall team standings at the carnival.
