Kelly McHenry '11 of the Dartmouth field hockey team was named the Ivy League Player of the Week last week, according to DartmouthSports.com. As a defenseman, McHenry earned the distinction for her outstanding offensive and defensive play and for her role in the Big Green's 4-3 victory over in-state foe University of New Hampshire. McHenry currently has five goals and 13 assists on the season for the Big Green (8-5, 2-2 Ivy League). McHenry is the second Dartmouth field hockey player to be named Player of the Week teammate Kelly Hood '11 was chosen earlier this season.
The Dartmouth equestrian team finished first out of eight teams as the team hosted its own show at Morton Farms on Saturday. Sarah Spangenberg '11 earned the distinction of the high point rider on the day, as she placed first in Intermediate Flat and Fences. The other first place finishers included Helena Witte '13 and Anne Peale '11 also finished first in Novice Flat and Advanced Walk Trot, respectively. Trevelyan Wing '13 and Baljir Baatartogtokh '12 both earned first place in Walk Trot. The Big Green also had a number of second place finishers, including Cristina Herren '12 in Open Fences and Janna Wandzilak '14 in Intermediate Fences.
The Dartmouth men's tennis team saw two doubles team advance to Sunday's final 16 at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Championships hosted by Yale University. Xander Centenari '13 and Michael Laser '12 defeated doubles teams from St. John's University and Marist College. The team of Stephen Greif '11 and Curtis Roby '11 beat St. Bonaventure University and the fourth-seeded doubles team from Yale. The Big Green did not fare as well in singles competition, with two players advancing to the round of 32. Laser lost to 14th seeded Harvard University freshman Christo Schultz, while Centenari advanced to the round of 32 by beating Cornell University's senior Jeremy Feldman 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, but failed to score a second upset in a match against second seed Yale sophomore Marc Powers.
