Things to Do

We all know Lou's is more than capable of satisfying your pancake craving (if you haven't tried the very berry pancakes, stop reading and go get some right now), but if you're looking for a change of scenery, check out this pancake breakfast in Norwich on Sept. 25 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m, all the pancakes (and other breakfast-y items) you can eat for just $6.

Wednesday, Sept. 29 Farmer's Market

If the tantalizing smell of just-popped kettle corn isn't enough to get you to wander over to the Green on Wednesdays, the assured promise of free samples definitely will. Whether you want to munch on locally made mozzarella, sample a decadent cappuccino cupcake or grab some goat's milk soap for shower time, you'll find it all here. It won't be here for long though hurry up and go this week before it shuts down for the year on Sept. 29.

Sunday, Oct. 3 Great Vermont Corn Maze

Ranked as the second best maze in America, the Great Vermont Corn Maze in Danville, Vt., is a great place to get lost on a weekend night. Every year, the maze features a new design, plus intra-maze laser tag and "Autumn on the Green" on Oct. 3, a popular Northeast craft fair.

Saturday, Oct. 9: Montshire Museum of Science

Located just a short drive's away from Dartmouth in Norwich, Vt, the Montshire Museum of Science isn't just for chemistry and biology majors. It features over 60 interactive exhibits, which are constantly changing with each season. On Oct. 9, check out the opening of "Evolvaphone," a machine that allows you make your own unique musical composition based on your voice and initials. You can also take a look at another one of the museum's newest exhibits, "Double Exposure: Photographing Climate Change," which takes a look at the rapid changes in the Earth's climate through photos.

Wednesday, Oct. 13: Ledyard Canoe Club

Didn't get that canoeing trip you put down as your first choice DOC trip? Up until Oct. 13, you can rent a canoe at Ledyard Canoe Club and go for a ride on the Connecticut. Things to watch out for: ticks, large branches, and Dartmouth students trying to complete the Ledyard Challenge.

Thursday, Oct. 21 Meteor Shower

Grab your friends and head over to the golf course for the best viewing of the Orionids Meteor Shower. Don't forget to bring lots of warm blankets, a flashlight and that girl from Gov 5 you want to impress with your made-up facts about meteors.

Sunday, Oct. 24: Moosilauke Ravine Lodge

Relive your DOC trip and head to Moosilauke Ravine Lodge for the weekend before it closes for the winter. For a mere $15 (which you can even pay for with DA$H!), you will be treated to accommodations at the lodge, access to all of the nearby trails and most importantly, a delicious family-style dinner and breakfast. But don't expect someone to be singing with your soup this time around during non-trips time, this lodge is BYOMM (Bring your own mealtime musical).

Wednesday, Oct. 27: Frank Stella exhibit

This Fall, the Hood plays host to the works of Frank Stella, who is known for his usage of irregular polygons in his works. Come learn how to paint like this contemporary artist on Oct. 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hood and create your own irregularly shaped canvas, just like Stella's. As an added bonus, you get to keep whatever you make, so you can finally break the five-year streak of forgetting to buy Mom a birthday present.

Sunday, Nov. 7th: Dan and Whit's

Known for their popular slogan, "If we don't have it, you don't need it," Dan and Whit's is the ultimate convenience store. If you're looking for a place to get all your Sunday afternoon shopping done or a great jogging landmark (Norwich is totally run-able from Dartmouth!), Dan and Whit's has got you covered. A word to the wise: don't try and run back the McWhit breakfast sandwich and fifty-cent coffee you will inevitably get while shopping aren't exactly conducive to the morning jog.

Friday, Nov. 12th: Astronomy Viewing

The Department of Physics and Astronomy is offering a free viewing of the moon, planets and stars through their campus astronomical telescope in Shattuck Observatory. Whether you want to act out the famous Deatheater v.
