Internet Meme of the Week: LE TOUR DU MONDE EN 80 SECONDES

Ever wanted to travel the world in 80 days? YouTube hit "Le tour du monde en 80 secondes" will take you around in a mere 80 seconds. Created by Roman Pergeaux and Alex Profit as a tribute to Jules Vernes' classic novel, "Around the World in 80 Days," the video is a continuous stream of 640 original photos from seven cities around the world. Spanning London, Cairo, Bombay, Hong Kong, Tokyo, San Francisco and New York, the video takes viewers through market places and narrow alleyways at a rate of eight photos per second, without a second of traditional video-recorded material. What makes the video really special, however, are the delightful transitions from one city to the next. One moment you are pacing through the bustling neon streets of Hong Kong, and in the next second you step through a taxi to find yourself in a quiet Tokyo temple. Remarkably, the video took Pergeaux and Profit only three weeks to make, despite having to travel through six countries and over 20,256 miles. Accompanied by a charming instrumental, the video is a treat, making it no wonder that the clip has already accumulated over 1.5 million views.
