Rec League Legends

Welcome to Glory Key, the most legendary weekend of the year. Such a holiday requires a very special Legends article, an exclusive Q-and-A with the Elites. The Legends' Lounge is now open. Enjoy.

Robby Pride '10 (Two-year men's basketball captain, member of lacrosse team)

RLL: When did you realize you were so athletic?

RP: I'd say first grade kickball during P.E. class was when I began to shine. I kicked it over everyone's head. This is also about the same time that my luck with the ladies was changin'.

RLL: Second grade for us.Peyton Tata '11 (Women's soccer goal-scorer)

RLL: Your accent sounds Southern. Do you know Nelly?

PT: Obviously. We southerners stick together. I tried out to play opposite him in "Dilemma" but didn't get the part because they wanted somebody taller. And I was 14. (Ultimately as we all know the part was given to Kelly Rowland, which was the clear turning point in her career). So I started playing soccer out of frustration.

RLL: You speak Country Grammar though, right?Priscilla Trojano '12 (2010 Indoor and outdoor multi-event Ivy League champion)

RLL: Do you wear your gold medals to class?

PT: My medal from indoors is long gone (Leverone ate it) so as soon as I got this one I gave it to my Mom so she could keep it safe. So no, I don't wear them to class.

RLL: You should probably blitz campus about your lost medal. Heorot?Henry Luehrman '12 (First boat lightweight rower and Aires singer)

RLL: How do you merge your two passions on campus, lightweight crew and a cappella?

HL: I'm writing a lightweight musical right now. As long as Ian Accomando '12 can keep his weight down, he'll get the lead. I hear he has a lot of experience in junior theater.

RLL: They should call the musical, "Les Miserables: Making Weight."Hunter Dray '12 (First boat heavyweight rower)

RLL: Would you consider entering medicine, solely to be known as Dr. Dray?

HD: No. I wouldn't go through years of medical school just to share a name with some has-been '90s rapper. Plus, I couldn't deal with the disappointment in people's eyes when they see it's Dr. Dray removing their kidney stones, not Dr. Dre. If I have a son (obviously named Andre) he has no choice, he's becoming a doctor.

RLL: Do you call your Mom, "Ma Dray?" Like Madre. Get it?Ted Lesher '10 (Men's track and field captain, jumps specialist)

RLL: If we gave you a trampoline, could you clear the Hop, land in Gusanoz and order me a Borracho?

TL: A trampoline-aided (much like wind-aided) jump gives me a strong chance of clearing the Hop. There's no sand pit at Gusanoz, so my best option is to crash land in Ben and Jerry's. I may be a bit banged up but at least I'll have a pumpkin cheesecake ice cream cone. I'll then order you a Borracho burrito and chill with Jim for a while. Case closed.

RLL: Meet outside the Hop at 6 p.m. today.Chris Roe '11 (Second team All-Ivy javelin thrower)

RLL: Scenario you're sitting on the Collis Porch, the wind is low, and the Sun God's dancing in the center of the Green. Can you take out his boombox?

CR: My accuracy is 100 percent within a quarter mile.

RLL: Prove it.Kelly Hood '12 (Women's field hockey, leading point-scorer)

RLL: Were you mad they never released "D4, The Mighty Ducks: Field Hockey?"

KH: Yes. Goldberg is hot.

RLL: Goalies are scared of you, Kelly. No chance.Eliza Bennett '10/Courtney Bennett '13 (Women's lacrosse captain/Scary defender)

RLL: Did Courtney tell you about that time Ben scored on her?

EB: She cried about it for a couple of days but then locked it up. She's generally pretty tough, but this kind of reminded me of middle school.

CB: Pshh, you wish.

RLL: Sister Fightttttttt!Connor Reilly '13 (55-meter Ivy League champion, fastest man in the League)

RLL: Do you ever worry that life isn't a straight line? And running short distances won't prepare you for life's twists and turns?

CR: Cheetahs can run in a straight line up to 75 MPH. If they try to turn, they immediately die. I don't read the turns, the turns read me.

RLL: Deep.

The Legends would like to thank D-I for stopping by the Lounge this week. Until next week, have a legendary Green Key.
