The Big Green football team joined up with DKMS Americas the largest bone marrow donor center in the world with over two million registered donors in hosting a bone marrow drive on Friday afternoon at Memorial Field. Although the national average for bone marrow drives is 20, there were 117 people who registered during this event, according to former Big Green receiver and field cordinator of the drive Kyle Battle '11. Tables were set up for the 15-minute cheek swab testing procedure while the football squad engaged in its last Spring scrimmage. By helping to set up the drive, Dartmouth joined the DKMS Americas' mission to save the life of Jackson Liff, a one-year old boy suffering from the potentially fatal immunodeficiency disorder, chronic granulomatous.

With a 3-2 victory in the decisive third game of the Ivy League Championship against Harvard University on Saturday, the Cornell University softball team took the Ivy crown for the second year in a row, according to CornellBigRed.com. Big Red pitcher Elizabeth Dalrymple threw three complete games during the series, leading Cornell to a 3-1 win over the Crimson in Friday's first game, before the Big Red fell by a score of 4-2 in the nightcap. The title guaranteed Cornell an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament and the Big Red will find out who it will face during the selection show held this Sunday at 10 p.m. In last year's NCAA tournament, the Big Red was eliminated after first-round losses to the University of Massachusetts, 8-0, and Sacred Heart University, 3-1. This is the fifth time in the school's history that Cornell has won the Ivy title.

University of Virginia women's lacrosse player Yeardley Love was found dead early last Monday morning, according to CBSNews.com. The Police were initially called by Love's roommate to check out a suspected alcohol overdose, but officers found Love's body showed signs of physical trauma. Love's ex-boyfriend George Huguely, a men's lacrosse player at the University of Virginia, was arrested on first-degree murder charges. Court affidavits stated that Huguely, "admitted that he and Love were involved in an altercation and during the course of the altercation Huguely shook Love and her head repeatedly hit the wall," CBSNews.com reported.
