The No. 7 Cornell University men's lacrosse team defeated Loyola University, 11-10, in the third overtime period on Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament, IvyLeagueSports.com reported. The battle between the Big Red and the Greyhounds was the longest game either school has played in the NCAA tournament and the longest game ever recorded in Loyola men's lacrosse history. On the women's side, the University of Pennsylvania survived past the first round of the NCAA tournament, beating Boston University, 14-9, on Saturday, DailyPennsylvanian.com reported. This is the third time in the past four years that the Quakers have advanced to the second round after beating the Terriers. The Penn women will now confront the No. 1 University of Maryland squad in the quarterfinals next weekend.

Three ranked Ivy League tennis teams were eliminated from the Division I NCAA tournament over the weekend. The No. 45 Columbia University men's tennis squad fell to the No. 22 Wake Forest University team, 4-0, in the opening round of the men's tournament on Saturday, GoColumbiaLions.com reported. The Lions struggled in singles play, facing four nationally ranked players and also lost the doubles point. In the first round of the women's Division I NCAA tournament, No. 39 Harvard University succumbed, 4-0, to the No. 19 University of Georgia this weekend. The No. 33 Princeton University women's squad was also eliminated after its first round loss to the No. 27 University of Virginia team.
