"Brown is always a tough team for us to play," co-captain Eliza Bennett '10 said. "I think it took us a while to get it together."

The Bears kept the score tight throughout the game largely through defense and particularly their goalkeeping. Brown goaltender Isabel Harvey made seven impressive saves while Dartmouth's Julie Wadland '10 recorded three saves on the day, scooping up three ground balls.

Brown's other strength proved to be draw control racking up 11 controls compared to the Big Green's seven.

Ultimately, however, the balanced Dartmouth attack overwhelmed Brown with goals coming from five different players Sarah Parks '12 boasted four, Sarah Plumb '12 added two and Greta Meyer '11, Abigail Holden '11 and Kirsten Goldberg '12 each chipped in one.

When the opening whistle blew, Parks wasted no time getting the Big Green on the board, scoring a free position goal at 24:37.

Dartmouth had little time to enjoy its lead, however, as Brown players Lindsay Minges and Paris Waterman sank two shots within 47 seconds of each other, putting the Big Green one goal behind.

Dartmouth responded when Plumb dished the ball to Parks, who went on to score her second goal of the game. Soon after, at 11:25, Holden followed suit, putting away an assist from Hana Bowers '13. The goal was Holden's first of the season.

Brown's Waterman and Minges struck again, however, as each scored her second goal of the game by the six-minute mark. Dartmouth's Meyers, however, ensured that the Big Green would not be behind going into the second half, scoring a free position goal with 1:13 on the clock and tying the game at four all.

After some halftime pointers from coach Amy Patton, the Big Green came out with a new strategy.

"We didn't have everything flowing in the first half," Bennett said. "We made a lot of changes in the attack."

In the second half, the team became more patient on the attack and more successful at draw control. By 24:24, the Dartmouth women added two more to the score. Plumb put away her first goal of the day, and Goldberg followed suit, capitalizing on a pass from Meyer.

Ten minutes later, by 14:10, the Big Green's Parks and Plumb each added an additional notch to the scoreboard, stretching the lead to four.

Still, Parks wasn't done. At 8:39 she converted a pass from Meyer into the team's ninth goal. It was Parks' fourth shot and fourth goal of the game.

Brown then responded, slowing down the Big Green's momentum. By 5:06, Bears Kaela McGilloway and Alexa Caldwell scored goals to boost their score to six, with Caldwell later adding another, decreasing Dartmouth's lead to just two.

The Bears ran out of gas, however, and would not score again.

"It was a strong showing in the second half, and I was really happy with how we played," Bennett said. "Another Ivy win gives us a lot of confidence going forward."

Dartmouth is set to host Siena College tomorrow at 3 p.m. on Scully-Fahey Field.

Despite back-to-back weeks of two games per week, Bennett believes the Big Green will not have a problem with fatigue.

"We're confident that we can recover, get our heads in it and prepare for a team we don't know much about," she said.
