There is no better way to get laughs online than by simultaneously parodying both contemporary rap music and classic science fiction. CollegeHumor's recent spoof, "Galactic Empire State of Mind," co-written by Owen Parsons '08, does just that. The latest in a string of "Empire State of Mind" parodies such as local favorite "Granite State of Mind" offers a recap of the original "Star Wars" trilogy set to the Jay-Z chart-topper. The result is a video with remarkable production value, incredible vocals (featuring Darth Vader and Princess Leia as lead singers) and hilarious lyrics brimming with "Star Wars" puns. With break-dancing Ewoks and an appropriate amount of Moff Tarkin references (just one), "Galactic Empire State of Mind" sets a new standard for online parodies.
