Former Dartmouth linebacker Chris Balish '88 will be the cohost of a new ABC 7 production On The Red Carpet which will premiere on March 14, according to an ABC press release. The show will be a source for celebrity headlines and Hollywood news and will be cohosted by Miss USA 2007, Rachel Smith. Balish is an Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist, reporter and anchor. He has authored two best-selling books, including How to Live Well Without Owning a Car. While playing football for Dartmouth, Balish was an Academic All-American.

The Ivy League had 11 players nominated for the 2010 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, presented by the USA Hockey Foundation to honor the top collegiate women's hockey player in the nation, according to IvyLeagueSports.com. The 45 nominees will be narrowed down to 10 finalists on March 2 and the winner will be announced on March 9. The Ivy League nominees are Cornell's Laura Fortino, Lauriane Rougeau and Catherine White, Dartmouth's Sarah Parsons '10 and Amanda Trunzo '11, Harvard's Kate Buesser, Leanna Coskren, Christina Kessler and Liza Ryabkina and Yale's Bray Ketchum and Jaclyn Snikeris.

The Ancient Eight has nine competitors in women's ice hockey at this year's Olympic Games, representing a total of three countries, IvyLeagueSports.com reported. Team Canada is represented by Jennifer Botterill and Sarah Vaillancourt of Harvard University, Becky Kellar of Brown University, Rebecca Johnston of Cornell University and Cherie Piper '06 and Gillian Apps '06 of Dartmouth. Team USA is led by Harvard's Angela Ruggiero, Julie Chu and Caitlin Cahow. Yale's Natalie Babony is playing for Slovakia. Team USA and Team Canada are just one win away from playing each other in the Olympic final and have outscored their opponents 72-3 thus far.
