Graupe named interim head coach

Mark Graupe was named the interim head coach of the Dartmouth men's basketball team this afternoon, less than a week after former head coach Terry Dunn resigned amid reports from FoxSports.com that his team refused to play for him. Former Big Green assistant coach and Hanover High School coach Paul Donohue was named interim assistant coach. Donohue will join current assistant coaches Michael Brown and Tim Lane.

Interim Athletic Director Bob Ceplikas said he hopes that promoting someone from inside the program will make the transition as seamless as possible.

"We were very fortunate to have someone with Mark's qualifications and head coaching experience already on our staff," Ceplikas said in a release Thursday afternoon.

Graupe, who joined the Big Green coaching staff this season, has over 20 years of coaching experience.

Before Dartmouth, he spent one season at Colorado State Univeristy as an assistant coach, where Dunn's son currently plays guard. While coaching Dunn's son, Graupe met the former Big Green head coach and was promptly offered an assistant job before the beginning of this season.

Prior to his stint at CSU, Graupe spent seven years as a coach at Lake Region State College in North Dakota where he posted an overall record of 126-95. In both 2007 and 2008, he led Lake Region to the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 13 title. Both years, Graupe was awarded regional Coach of the Year honors.
