Daly said that the team viewed this weekend's competition as both a challenge and an opportunity to improve.
"It was a good chance for us to try to hit all our best times, because if we did, we thought we could come away with a win," she said.
Both the men's and women's teams from New Hampshire posted second-place finishes overall. The men scored 67 points, while the women came away with 60. Vermont and Quinnipiac, meanwhile, trailed significantly behind.
The Dartmouth men's team took first and second in the 4x800-meter relay, with times of 8:03.49 and 8:04.44.
Trevor Middleton '09 finished first in the 1,000-meter race, notching a career-best time of 2:27.82, while Tim Edmonds '09 ran his best time of the year in the 400-meter event, finishing first in 49.56.
Abdul-Shakoor's record-setting time in the 60-meter dash, the third fastest time in Dartmouth history, earned him second place in the event. Abdul-Shakoor also placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.59.
Ted Lesher '09 finished second in the 60-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 8.44 seconds.
The Big Green also secured first-place finishes in three field events. Ken DiCairano '10 vaulted 4.65 meters, winning the pole vault event and notching a season-best, while Lesher jumped 14.09 meters to win the triple jump event. Mike Poppler '10 beat Lesher by three-fourths of an inch in the long jump, finishing first with a jump of 6.8 meters.
The women's team edged out New Hampshire by six points to secure their win on Saturday. Daly won both the weight throw and the shot put events, setting a new College record in the weight throw with a distance of 17.94 meters. Christina Alexander '11 finished third in the shot put with a distance of 12.68 meters.
Other big wins for the women included the individual 400-meter dash and the 4x400 meter relay. Alexandra Tanner '11 took first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.12 seconds, while the relay team recorded a team-best time of 3:57.73.
The women's team also notched four second-place finishes on the weekend. Elizabeth Short '12 finished second in the one-mile event with a time of 5:05.73, shaving over 10 seconds off her previous personal best. Caitlin Cunningham '09 also finished second in the 1000-meter in 2:56.26, a time fast enough to qualify her for the ECAC Championships. Natalie Stoll '10 lost to Vermont runner Kailey Jasper by .35 seconds in the 500-meter event, and Marcy Van Arnam '09 finished just 1.01 seconds short of Allison Letourneau of UNH in the 800-meter event.
Both teams will return to the turf to compete in the Valentine Invitational on Feb. 13 and 14 in Boston, Mass.
