VOCES CLAMANTIUM: Lawsuit, Objection

To the Editor:

For Phil Aubart '10 to imply that Martha Beattie '76 is more political than Peter Robinson '79 -- a man who ran as a petition trustee, signed an amicus brief in support of litigation against the College and used his column in National Review Online and his role as sitting trustee to urge Dartmouth alumni to vote for the pro-lawsuit slate in the Association of Alumni election -- is laughable. Peter Robinson is an activist. Martha Beattie is a dedicated volunteer whom we should all be proud to emulate.

Merle Adelman '80

Former President, Association of Alumni

To the Editor:

Having produced and managed the mailings for Dartmouth Undying and the Unity Slate, I am truly offended at Phil Aubart's assertion (repeated by other supporters of the so-called Parity Slate) that we had access to the College's mailing lists. Most

assuredly, we did not. If we did, we would not have had thousands of returns waiting for us at the

Hanover Post Office after each mailing. Dartmouth Undying received no support from Dartmouth College during the recent Association of Alumni Executive Committee election -- no money, no mailing lists, no e-mail lists, no coordination of communications. Your side lost, Phil, on the merits. Dartmouth alumni won, fair and square.
