Hanover Police responded to a "stray beaver" call. The beaver was subsequently struck by a car.

Lebanon Street
While performing a routine traffic stop for speeding, a Hanover Police officer detected the odors of alcohol and marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The officer then noticed a six-pack of Long Trail beer in plain view. The driver of the vehicle, a 26-year-old male, was not under the influence, but was issued a summons for violating New Hampshire's open container law. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 20.

Webster Avenue
Hanover Police arrested an intoxicated male on the lawn of College President James Wright's home. As he approached the Wrights' residence, an officer on mobile patrol noticed a student sitting against a brick gatepost with his head tilted back and his eyes half open. The male initially tried to walk away, but obeyed the officer's command to stop. The officer reported that the student's eyes were bloodshot and watery, and the student slurred his speech and was difficult to understand. The student claimed to be 21 years old, but was revealed to be 19. He was placed under arrest and brought to the police station, where he reached a .254 on a breathalizer test and proceeded to vomit into a bucket. Hanover Police summoned an ambulance crew, which took the student to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for evaluation. His court date and eligibility for the alcohol diversion program have not been determined at this point.

Lyme Road
Following the April 18 arrest on Lebanon Street, Hanover Police requested a search warrant to determine whether the odor of marijuana was from illegal substances still in the vehicle. The warrant was granted the next morning. While searching the vehicle, Hanover Police discovered a small amount of "green vegetative matter," which the officers subsequently sent to a laboratory for testing.
April 20, 12:27 a.m.
Massachusetts Row
Dartmouth Safety and Security requested police assistance to break up a fight outside Thayer Dining Hall. Safety and Security reported that two subjects had started a verbal altercation inside the building, which turned into a physical fight outside. Safety and Security, however, said that on arrival they were unable to find any kind of fight. Bystanders in the area claimed to have seen nothing out of the ordinary. Hanover Police does not know who made the initial call to Safety and Security or why anybody would have done so.
April 20, 4:25 a.m.
South Main Street and Allen Street
Hanover Police approached a college-aged male who appeared to be intoxicated. The subject, who Hanover Police suggested was probably not a Dartmouth student, informed the officers that, feeling too intoxicated to drive, he had opted to walk home instead. The subject lives in Lebanon. Hanover Police agreed to drive him to wherever he was residing.
April 23, 2:34 a.m.
East Wheelock Street
Dartmouth Safety and Security responded to a report of five "unwanted" males on the second floor of Morton Hall. Officers arrived and concluded that there had been a "dorm situation" between a male student and a female student who had been staying in his room. When the female student tried to leave, the male used physical force to restrain her. While Hanover Police said the situation began as "an issue about a college couple breaking up," it resulted in the male being charged with simple assault. He was assigned a court date of May 27.
