Women's lacrosse beats Columbia to even Ivy record

Dartmouth came out strong in Sunday's contest with a goal in the first minute from Greta Meyer '11 off a pass from co-captain Kristen Barry '08 . After the Lions scored an equalizer, the Big Green went into a 4-0 scoring run led by Meyer, who started the push with an unassisted goal, followed by another score off a feed from Kat Collins '11. Collins followed up her assist with another pass to Barry, who picked up another goal to put Dartmouth at 4-1. Meyer, assisted by Kathleen Wallace '11, scored the last goal of the unanswered streak to bump the score to 5-1.

Soon after the Big Green's fourth unanswered goal, Columbia broke the streak to make the score 5-2. Dartmouth quickly responded with another goal, scored by Wallace and assisted by Eliza Bennett '10.

Meyer scored her fifth goal of the game off a pass from Barry, followed by a goal by Collins to give the Big Green an 8-2 lead going into halftime.

Dartmouth continued its scoring streak with a goal by Kate Labrum '08 after Barry prevailed in the opening draw.

Less than a minute later, Collins got another unassisted goal to push the Big Green to a 10-2 lead.

Co-captain Liz Spence '08 caused a turnover and found Meyer on an outlet pass. Meyer led a breakaway, ultimately resulting in a Labrum goal assisted by Barry to make the score 11-2.

After the intense start, the game slowed down offensively for Dartmouth. Cate Goytisolo '10 scored the Big Green's next goal, converting a free-position.

After a two-goal run by the Lions, Collins had back-to-back goals in a time span of under a minute, making it 14-4.

Columbia put in one final goal to make the final score 14-5.

Meyer and Collins stood out in Sunday's contest, scoring five and four goals, respectively.

The Big Green's freshmen made their presence known on the offensive side of the ball, helping Dartmouth by scoring nine of the team's 10 goals.

Collins led the team in scoring, tallying up six points in total off of four goals and two assists. Meyer and Barry followed Collins, racking up five points each.

Goaltender Julie Wadland '10 had a strong performance in the net, making 12 saves and picking up four groundballs.

On Monday, Meyer was named Ivy offensive player of the week for her performance in the Big Green's first two Ancient Eight contests.

Dartmouth will head to Brown for its third Ancient Eight contest on Saturday, March 29.
