The men's club lacrosse team ended its spring season with a 2-1 record after posting wins over New England College and Holy Cross and suffering a lone loss to the University of Vermont.

Dartmouth went 17-1 against the Pilgrims and defeated the Crusaders 4-2 at New England College during the last weekend of April.

However, the Big Green suffered its first and last loss of the season to the University of Vermont last weekend, falling 16-4.

"It wasn't necessarily because we were out-skilled or outplayed," Nathan Niparko '09 said. "We were outmanned."

Dartmouth played the game with only 14 players, which led to a lot of goals off of transitions when the midfielders ran out of energy.

Niparko, who is also a staff writer for The Dartmouth, commented on the performance of teammate Conor Frantzen '08, and said that Frantzen, who is captain of the club and scored two goals in the game, "played his heart out, led our defense, and was always the first guy back on defense."

Other notable performances included Pete Cohn '09 and goalie Matt Demarco '07's accomplishments in the game.

However, players expressed dissatisfaction at the lack of administrative support for their program. The club, which is not sanctioned by the College, is forced to field-hop and can only hope for empty fields while clubs like the Vermont Catamounts have organized practices and a coaching staff to rely on.

The club is currently organizing its schedule for next spring and endeavoring to get more field time.

"The other schools we played against all get field time and some get a fair amount of funding with their schools," Frantzen said. "Dartmouth's policies are terrible. It's hard to believe people when they would tell us there weren't fields to play on when we are surrounded by green grass everywhere."

The women's rugby club dominated Williams last weekend at home 97-0 in the seniors' last match of their college careers. The win was a great way to end a successful spring season. Some distinguished players include Alyssa Caballero '06, who scored her first try of the year. Some new players even had their first chance to play with the A-side.
