Big Green track dominates the competition at home meet

In their last home meet of the outdoor season, Dartmouth men's and women's track and field teams triumphed on Memorial Field.

The men's team had six first-place finishes while the women's team outperformed the competition in nine events. Sophomore Fatih Stanley came in first in the men's 100-meter dash.

Brian Evans '08 was second in the 200-meter dash, while classmate Greg Haines finished third in the 800-meter run.

In the men's 1500-meter run, Ben True '08 finished the race in 3:50.49 to win the event. Teammates Harry Norton '08, Thomas Quinn '05 and Liam Butler '05 placed fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

George McArdle '06 finished second in the 5000-meter run as classmate Ikechi Ogbonna won the 110-meter hurdle race.

Brian McCarthy '05 won the high jump with a 6-8 leap. In the triple jump, Randy McKnight '08 came in second place.

In men's pole vault, Derrick Vinklarek '08 and Matt Guernsey '05 were first and second respectively.

In the javelin, Andrew Hall '05 took home the gold with a 172-8 throw. On the women's side, senior Tessa Clare won the 200-meter dash and placed third in the 100-meter.

Megan Olds '06 finished second in the 800-meter run and won the 1500-meter run in 4:37.44.

In the 5000-meter run, classmates Meredith Curtis '06 and Susan Abramczyk '06 placed first and third respectively.

Jadah Chatterton-Richmond '07 won the 100-meter hurdles and Victoria Michelotti '08 finished third.

Dartmouth's 4 x400-meter relay team won the event while the 4 x100-meter relay squad came in second.

In women's high jump, Kelsey Wiegmann '06 and Clare both cleared 5-6; Wiegmann won the event in fewer tries.

In the pole vault, sophomore Lilly Bertz's 11-6.5 attempt was more than a foot better than the runner-up attempt. Matthan Chatterton-Richmond '06 won the long jump.

In the discus, Jessica Long '08 and Melissa Machaj '07 finished first and second respectively. The teams return to action next week for the three-day Penn Relays.
