To the Editor:
I was a bit surprised to read Professor Edsforth's letter to the editor ("A Debatable Decision," Feb. 18) Here's the professor who begged students to mobilize on his behalf when it appeared he would be dismissed. Now he's begging students to give him press coverage in The D. Seems that he's overreliant on positive reinforcement.
Professor Edsforth may be right that the debate in which he participated was more deserving of news coverage than other recent campus events. But it does seem awfully churlish to beg openly for attention. Couldn't he have had one of his minions "leak" his feelings to the press? Karl Furstenberg, for one, is no stranger to these techniques.
