Two players make All-Region

Carrie Hoverman '01 has had quite a week. After being named to the New England Intercollegiate Softball Coaches Association All-Star Team and the Verizon Academic All-District I Women's Softball Team, the Big Green first baseman was named to the 2001 Northeast All-Region Team.

Hoverman was named to the first team having led the Big Green in hitting with a .344 average while pounding out 10 doubles and five homeruns. The Dartmouth senior also led the team with a .544 slugging percentage while driving in 27 RBI and scoring 28 runs.

Hoverman is joined by teammate Sarah Damon '02 who received a place on the second team. Damon finished just behind Hoverman with a .339 average while smacking nine doubles, three round trippers and a pair of triples.

Damon also scored 26 runs while hitting out of the leadoff slot most of the season and tied Jenny Harsey '01 for the team lead in stolen bases with seven. The junior also led the team in on-base percentage at .404 and finished third in slugging with a .512 mark, behind Hoverman and Kristin King '02 (.543).

Damon was also the team's best fielder, going errorless in 48 chances in center field. Damon is already the Big Green's career leader in hits.
