Penn gears up for NCAA bid

Ivy League champion Penn chalked up two more wins this weekend, bringing their winning streak to a program-record 20 games, currently the longest streak in the nation in men's and women's basketball. Quaker senior Diana Caramanico holds the record as the leading scorer in Ivy League history.

Penn 79, Brown 53

Penn (13-0, 21-5) smothered Brown (5-9, 10-17) on Friday in Philadelphia, never relinquishing their lead and shooting 56 percent from the field. Caramanico led all scorers with 22 points, while Brown freshman Tanara Golston put in 11 points for her team.

Harvard 69, Columbia 42

In New York City, Harvard (8-5, 11-15) prevailed over Columbia (6-8, 9-18) in a similar fashion, building a 12-point halftime lead and then jumping ahead with a 20-3 scoring run to start off the second frame. Harvard freshman Hana Peljto and senior Lion Shawnee Pickney both scored 16 points in the game.

Yale 67, Princeton 63

Sophomore Tiger Maureen Lane's 31 points weren't enough, as Yale (4-10, 9-18) pulled off a victory against Princeton (2-11, 2-24) in New Jersey on Friday. The Bulldogs, led by senior Lily Glick's 23 points, shot 49 percent from the field in the game.

Princeton 66, Brown 65 (3 OT)

In this drawn-out thriller, Princeton eked out their second win of the season, this time over the Bears. Lane put in 30 points for the Tigers, including the winning shot with 25 seconds left in the third overtime. Brown had the last possession, but lost their opportunity when Princeton senior Jessica Munson pulled down a rebound with three seconds left in the game.

Cornell 75, Harvard 73

Cornell finished off its best season in the Ivy League to date with a win at home over Harvard. Peljto was on top of all scorers with 25 points, but five of the Big Red players scored in the double digits in the game, led by senior Jen Linker's 18 points.

Penn 73, Yale 70

Yale led the Quakers for most of Saturday's game, but Penn came from behind in the last four minutes of play to grab the lead and then the victory. Penn senior Ladley led the comeback, scoring seven points in the final 3:48 of the game.

Only two games remain to be played in the Ivy League, as Dartmouth will travel to face Harvard and Penn hosts Princeton tonight. Penn, one game away from going undefeated in the Ivy League, will continue its season in the NCAA tournament.
