Squash drops a pair to Yale

The Dartmouth College men and women's squash teams both suffered devastating losses to the Bulldogs from Yale today. In a game that went a long way towards determining the playoff scenario, the Big Green men failed to pull through for a much need victory.

The final score was 8-1 with the lone victory notched by Chris O'Connell, who won his match in straight sets, 15-10, 15-11, and 15-6. Hamed Anvari had a solid showing with a 4 game loss, 15-11, 13-15, 15-8, and 15-10.

The loss drops Dartmouth to fourth place in the seven-team league at 1-3, 7-6 overall. Yale solidifies its hold on third place at 4-1, 11-1 overall.

The Big Green women suffered a hard fought and gut-wrenching 5-4 defeat earlier in the day. Wins by Beth Vadasdi, Charlotte Haldeman, Farrar Evans, and Sarah West set the stage for Lindsey Bishop's match at number two.

In a stomach-twisting, nerve-wracking five game loss, the Big Green saw their playoff hopes dwindle. Bishop fought back from two games down finally succumbing 9-4, 9-1, 0-9, 7-9, 9-5.

The women drop behind Yale into the sixth slot with a league record of 1-3, 9-5 overall. The Elis move to 2-3, 6-4 overall.

Both the men and the women will travel to Princeton on February 10th. The women's match will begin at noon while the men get underway at 2:00.
