Squash enjoys mixed weekend

Over the weekend the Dartmouth men's and women's squash teams both faced off against some of the country's elite squads. Coming off their second win of the season the men's team took on the nation's best in Trinity College.

While the match was relatively one-sided, the men held up well against superior competition. The final 9-0 score did not indicate the effort that the team put in. Some of the notables from the match included the play of James Judah '02, and Andrei Prokopiw '04, who battled hard against their Trinity opponents.

Earlier in the day the Big Green defeated visiting Bowdoin College 7-2. With standout play by Hamed Anvari '02 and Prokopiw, both 3-0 winners, and sweeps by the Nos. 4-7 spots, the Big Green turned in a dominant win. The match gave Dartmouth their second victory of the season.

With their 8-1 win over Vassar on Sunday the men showed that their excellent play was no fluke. The Big Green came out strong and sharp, and took care of Vassar with relative ease. Impressive play by Scott Judah '02, helped the Big Green coast to the easy victory, despite missing their 2, 6, 7 and 9 players.

The women meanwhile suffered a Saturday sweep as their record fell to 5-3 on the year. One of the defeats came at the hands of top ranked Trinity College, 6-3. The Big Green got victories from Sara Connolly '01, Emily Turner '03 and Kaitlin Yaremchuk '04, but could muster little more.

Earlier in the day the women were narrowly defeated by visiting Bowdoin College, 5-4. While sophomores Charlotte Haldeman, Farrar Evans and Abigail Drachman-Jones all won impressively, it was not enough.

On Sunday the women regained some momentum with a big 8-1 win over Vassar. West set the tone with a 3-0 victory at No. 1.
