No. 2 Princeton leads Ivy W. lax

Second ranked Princeton handed the host No. 8 Virginia an handsome 8-7 defeat and two Tigers were named Ivy Player of the Week. Dartmouth's own hero Jacque Weitzel '00 brought home an Ivy Honor Roll award with a double hat trick performance in the Big Green's win over the Bears.

This week, ninth-ranked Dartmouth will take on No. 17 Cornell. The Big Green is still undefeated in the Ivy games (3-0), while Cornell is 1-1. Princeton, also undefeated in the Ivies, hosts Yale (2-1). Brown will host Columbia, while Harvard will visit Pennsylvania.

No. 9 Dartmouth

Weitzel added six more goals this weekend to extend her career points to 198 (157g, 41a) to put herself into second place in school history in goals scored. The senior midfielder needs 36 more goals to tie all-time leader Lauren Holleran '95.

The Big Green has a 3-0 Ivy record and has outscored the opponents 73-32 this year.

No. 2 Princeton

Charlotte Kenworthy received the Ivy Offensive Player of the week, while her teammate Julie Shaner was named Ivy Defensive Player of the Week.

Kenworthy played a huge role in the Tigers' two key wins over the weekend. Against Virginia, she notched a hat trick, including the first one of the game and the go-ahead goal that gave Princeton its first lead, 7-6, a lead that the Tigers would not relinquish.

Two days later against Cornell, Kenworthy netted two goals to help the Tigers hand the Big Red its first Ivy League loss of the season.

After Princeton took a 3-0 lead in the first 4:25 of the game, Shaner helped slow the Big Red attack. During that run Princeton outscored the Big Red, 12-4. She picked up eight ground balls and had three caused turnovers.

Princeton has a six-game winning streak and it will host Yale this weekend. Kenworthy netted three goals in the win against Virginia.

No. 14 Yale

The Bulldogs handed a 7-6 victory to Harvard. Attacker Clarissa Clarke led the team with two goals in the match.

Kate Flatley, won Ivy Honor Roll as she scored six goals in two games; five in the win over Fairfield and the game winner against Harvard.

No. 17 Cornell

The Big Red lost its first games of the season falling to No. 13 Vanderbilt, 12-6, and to second-ranked Princeton, 12-7.

Sophomore Jaimee Reynolds tallied five goals on the week against the two teams.

Brown

The Bears are looking for their first Ivy win after starting the season 0-2. Goalie Niki Caggiano stopped 19 shots against Johns Hopkins and has played every minute for Brown. She has a 9.87 goals-against-average.
