Lee Birchall '02 continued his solid play of late, shooting rounds of 76-74 -- 150 to finish tied for sixth at the New England Division 1 championship, played at the Country Club of Fairfield in Fairfield, CT.
Birchall was only six shots behind the winner, Jim Salinetti of URI, who shot a 73-71 -- 144 .
URI won the team title in the field of 18 schools with 591, 17 strokes ahead of Hartford (608).
The Big Green finished sixth overall with a 36-hole total of 628.
Other notable golfers included Chris Welty '00 (77-78-155), and Jero Esteve '03 (78-80-158).
"I'm disappointed with the finish," Birchall said. "We are probably going to have to win the Rhode Island Invite next week to have a chance to make NCAA's."
Next up for the Big Green is the R. I. Invitational April 24-25.
