St. Lawrence takes over first

St. Lawrence

The Saints converted a 2-0 weekend to their advantage, moving into first place in the ECAC. St. Lawrence now holds a 6-2-1 conference record.

On Friday they opened up a 6-0 lead over Brown and never looked back.

St. Lawrence power plays contributed to two of the goals. The game's final tally stood at 6-3.

The next night in a match-up with Harvard, the Saints power play was once again clicking as they went three for eight. They emerged with a 6-4 win.

Colgate

The Red Raiders faced off with non-league opponent Army at West Point this weekend. The Colgate defense held Army to only 12 shots in the 5-2 win. Andy McDonald had two goals and an assist for the winning cause.

Rensselaer

RPI had a home-home series with Union this weekend. On Friday, the Engineers were upset in a 3-2 OT loss at Union.

RPI bounced back the next night with a 5-0 win at home. League-leading scorer Brad Tapper had two power play goals and Joel Laing made 31 saves for the shutout.

Harvard

The Crimson suffered through a tough weekend in upstate New York, in which they went 0-2. On Friday, the boys from Cambridge traveled to Clarkson to take on the Knights.

After taking a 2-1 lead early in the second period, Harvard was hurt by unnecessary penalties and gave up four consecutive goals on their way to a 5-2 loss. The next night, in a shootout at St. Lawrence, Harvard fell again despite a two-goal third.

Goaltender Oliver Jonas did his part, making 40 saves, but the Saints were too much for the flailing Crimson.

Cornell

The Big Red hosted WCHA foe Western Michigan this weekend, and swept both games. On Friday a three-goal second period, including two from Ryan Moynihan, hoisted the home team to a 4-3 win.

The next evening Cornell was powered to a 3-1 win by a shorthanded goal from Krzyszotf Wieckowski that served as the game winner.

Union

The Flying Dutchmen, coming of a loss at Dartmouth, put in a surprising effort on Friday night and came out 3-2 victors in OT over RPI.

Alex Todd netted two, including the game winner with 30 seconds remaining in the extra session. Union fell on Saturday 5-0 to the Engineers. They went 0-7 on the power play.

Clarkson

Despite their low position in the standings, perennial power Clarkson showed what they are capable of with a 2-0 weekend. On Friday, the Knights toppled Harvard 5-2. Clarkson went 3-7 on the power-play.

The next night they held Brown to 14 shots. Yan Turgeon turned in a one goal, two assist night for the Knights.

Brown

The Bears dropped to 2-10-0 in conference with two losses this weekend. Brown scored three straight goals after falling behind 6-0 to St. Lawrence on Friday, but that wasn't enough. The next night saw the same result for the Bears, as they fell 4-1 at Clarkson.
