Soccer's Blasius Knudsen '91 resigns

Women's soccer head coach Kelly Blasius Knudsen '91 announced her resignation from the Big Green soccer team yesterday due to family reasons just a week after leading Dartmouth to its second consecutive NCAA tournament appearance.

Knudsen and her husband, Eric as well as their 6-month old son will relocate to Burlington, Vt.

Last week her Big Green knocked off Colgate 3-0 in the first round of the tournament before falling in the next round to Connecticut by the same score.

But, it was a year ago in Knudsen's sophomore season as Big Green head coach that she guided the Big Green to great heights as they set school records for wins with 16 as well as for shutouts with 12. For Knudsen's efforts, she was named Northeast Region coach of the year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as well as the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association coach of the year.

She concludes her three seasons in Hanover with a 35-18-5 record for a winning percentage of .646. Including her two years at the University of Vermont in 1995 and 1996, Knudsen has compiled a 54-30-9 mark.

A 1991 graduate of the College, she lettered all four years and served as the team's captain during her senior year. She also earned All-Ivy honors that year.
