Men's hoops hits the road to even Ivy record at 3-3

The Big Green's momentous 65-64 upset of Navy last Saturday afternoon has finally given them the momentum they need heading into the rest of their Ivy schedule.

This weekend, Dartmouth hits the road to take on Ancient Eight rivals Yale and Brown in an effort to sweep the weekend and even their Ivy mark at 3-3.

The Big Green's only league victory came earlier this month against Harvard, but Dartmouth figures to grab at least one victory on the trip as they tangle Saturday with the Bears who are winless in the Ivy League.

The Big Green will get a glimpse of All-Ivy quarterback James Perry on the basketball court as he directs the Brown offense at the guard position.

Before they play Perry, Dartmouth must first deal, however, with Yale in New Haven on tonight. The Bulldogs are in a three-way tie for second place in the conference standings with Cornell and Harvard at 3-1. There are several reasons for the Green to remain optimistic about a possible sweep.

Yale might look past the Big Green in preparation for their battle with Harvard on Saturday, giving Dartmouth a chance to pull another upset.

In addition, while the Bulldogs are 3-1 in the conference, they are only 8-8 overall with one of those losses coming against the same Midshipmen team which Dartmouth defeated just a week ago.

In order to beat Yale, the Big Green must contain a strong front line including junior forward David Tompkins who has shot well above 70 percent from the field as of late and senior center Emerson Whitley.

At 4-12 on the year and with ten games remaining, the Big Green are a long way from .500, but if they are even going to entertain that possibility, they need to win on the road beginning tonight.
