To the Editor:
I should no longer be shocked by The Dartmouth's lack of editorial standards, but as I progressed through Aaron Klein '98's atrocious column, "No More Lies About Dating at Dartmouth" [July 11, 1997] (which I read via the World Wide Web), my jaw slowly dropped. I have compiled a short catalog of your lapses of editorial judgment. First, an unsolicited and totally gratuitous update on your columnist's sex life ("I have had many lonely terms, many no sex terms"). Then, a few raunchy, and utterly unamusing,references to "slutty" women and getting "horizontal." Finally, the (would-be) stunner: the word "bitch" -- in print, in the official student newspaper of an Ivy League college.
While The D's claim to be the nation's oldest college newspaper is dubious, it certainly qualifies as the most lowbrow.
