Folk Store Is Not 'All Set' with EBAs' Planned Expansion

To the Editor:

I was shocked at the arrogance of Charlie Dowd of Everything But Anchovies in commenting on the future of my business, the Folk art and clothing store, which he knows nothing about and obviously does not care about. I was disturbed that The Dartmouth did not give me an equal opportunity to comment in the article ["EBAs plans expansion for this fall," June 23].

There was a lot of misinformation in the article which only adds to an already unjust situation.

In fact, S&R Associates of Hanover, Ray and Steve Buskey, by attempting to force me out of my location of 23 years, are threatening to destroy my business in order to accomodate EBAs. Contrary to what Dowd said, I have offered to meet rent increases in order to stay in the space. No, Folk is not "all set," as Dowd said.

The petition is going strong -- hundreds of people against the EBAs expansion have signed it. We urge others in the Dartmouth community to join them.

People are not happy with this proposed change. This situation is about more than business -- it is about how we behave as people in a community.
