Cookie in Photo Shows Dining Services Provide Necessary Service

To the Editor:

How delightfully ironic, and typical of the so-called student activism at Dartmouth, was the photo on the front page of The Dartmouth today. In it are shown "angry students crowded into the Tindle Lounge at Thayer Dining Hall," hoping against hope to reverse the likely decision of DDS to raise the cost of dining on campus.

But what is seen upon further inspection shows the depth of this conviction. An anonymous activist, a student deeply committed to the efficient operation and improved responsiveness and accountability of DDS, is herself gnawing on a cookie from Food Court. How better to debase a claim that DDS provides unnecessary and excessive services than by utilizing one of those services during a meeting about why they should be eliminated? No wonder the administration never listens to us. We can't get our story straight!
