'Bare Minimum' Plan of $800 per term is Absurd and Insulting

To the Editor:

Pete Napolitano's plan for a "bare minimum" $800 per term declining balance for each student is absurd and insulting. Perhaps Napolitano should consider taking the sandwiches out of the basement of Collis so that students can eat in sunlight this spring. Perhaps he should make fans of the Westside Cafe pay full price for the large quantities of food that they consume. Perhaps he should not have 10 people at a time sweeping the floor in Food Court. Perhaps he should make it possible to play video games and buy from vending machines 24 hours per day again. Perhaps he should recognize that his self-righteousness regarding the lack of "participation" of students in the absurd monopoly we call DDS is disgusting. Why should anyone pay for the bad food and poor customer relations and utter lack of accountability that comprises Napolitano's fiefdom? We do not need a referendum to create confusion and a false sense of student influence. We need public display of DDS records and then, perhaps, a complete overhaul of the plan.
