To the Editor:
I am writing at the request of many others, but mainly for simple decency. I refuse to accept that The Dartmouth seriously believes the columns by Abiola Lapite '98 to be "fit to print."
Understanding, of course, that you need to fill space, I should like to address this letter instead to that author-function. In vapid, pretentious rhetoric, Mr. Lapite's arguments truly expose his failure to qualify for this envisioned "elitism." I would posit reasonably that to be an elitist, one should at least first be an elite. I would also suggest that he look up one word, for it describes his columns in full. That word, in all its textual force, is "sciolism."
