To the Editor:
As a local (born, raised, went away, came back) of the Upper Valley area, I was pleased to read about your new article series (Oh, The Places You'll Go) on things for bored students to see and do outside of the Ivy walls.
I found the Robinson Hall quick intro to the series upbeat and encouraging. I began to read, with interest, the first installment of the series ["Students may find area around Dartmouth a tourist's paradise," The Dartmouth, July 5].
By the time I finished the article, I was disgusted with the attitude of the author. The article had such a negative tone that it will not encourage students to venture out. The author bashed the majority of the sites reviewed (a major complaint being bad weather).
The author reviewed a couple of outdoor attractions in the rain. That makes sense. I felt the reviews were rushed, incomplete, and perhaps should have been written by someone with a real interest in going to new places and trying new things.
