The women's tennis team just cannot seem to pull out of its slump this season.
The team took two more losses this past weekend, falling 7-0 to both Brown and Yale. The two losses dropped the team to 1-12 overall, 0-6 in the Ivy League.
According to Captain Trudy Muller '96, the team had difficulties playing outdoors. "It was our first match outside, and the wind was tough to deal with," she said.
On Friday the team faced Yale. The team's one moment of hope came during the doubles matches.
A new combination at the number three position, Sarah Anderson '99 and Katie Kirkmire '98, snatched up the team's only win on the afternoon. Anderson and Kirkmire defeated Yale's Heath Friedman and Clara Chun 8-4.
"It was nice to see that the new combination worked out," Muller said.
Dartmouth, however, could not pull out a victory at either the number one or two positions and gave up the doubles point to Yale.
Saturday proved even more difficult for the Big Green.
Brown swept the doubles matches, taking the first point there.
In singles action, Brown cleaned up as well, picking up straight-set victories in five of the six matches.
Anderson was the only player to win a set. She lost to Amanda Rhee 6-0, 6-7, 6-4.
The team hopes to finish up its season with a win today at Harvard.
