Volleyball continues streak, defeats BC

The men's volleyball team improved its record to 13-1 last night with a 3-1 win over Boston College. The Big Green have now won four in a row, as they head into two key matches tomorrow against the University of Maine and the University of Vermont.

Coming off a big win against Harvard Wednesday night, the Big Green came out a bit sloppy last night but were able to capture a quick lead winning the first two games 15-12 and 15-9.

"They were a pretty raw team,"

Co-Captain Jeremy Longinotti said. "Sometimes its tough to play a team like that, but all in all we played pretty well."

The Big Green were able to work in numerous players making consistency on the court difficult at times. But at the same time, this adds to the experience of the Big Green squad.

"Everyone got a chance to some experience, and that is important in order to gain some depth," Longinotti said.

Co-Captain Marc Ginsburg added, "We were happy to get everyone out playing. It was good to use all the team members."

With their second line in, the Big Green dropped a close third game 15-12. But Dartmouth quickly rebounded pounding BC 15-9 in the fourth and final game.

"We played well," Ginsburg said. "BC was less of a threat than we anticipated. We have had a problem of playing down to teams like that, but we were able to pick it up when we needed to and came through with the win."

The Big Green return to the court tomorrow for two New England Collegiate Volleyball League (NECVL) matches. While both UVM and Maine are competitive teams, the Big Green are confident they can improve their League record to 5-0.

"Both are decent teams, but we should beat them," Longinotti said. "It is a matter of focusing and playing our game."

Game times are at 11:00 a.m. against Maine and 1:00 p.m. against UVM.
