Big Green split over weekend

The men's squash team beat Hobart 7-2 and lost to Franklin and Marshall College 4-5 this past weekend at F&M in Pennsylvania.

Coach Chris Brownell said that the match against F&M "went a little better than expected." The team was missing Jon Gabel '98 but still managed to pick up four wins from co-Captain John-Keith Wasson '96, Zach Segal '98, Bill Tarr '98 and Ross Hallock '97. Tarr remains undefeated so far this season.

Co-Captain Scott Hammond '96 faced a tough challenge from F&M's number one who hails from India.

Hobart proved to be "a bit out of shape" according to Brownell. She said their racket skills are impressive, but that they "didn't have the same physical skills" as the Dartmouth men.

"Our guys train a lot," Brownell said. This has been one of the team's strong points throughout the season.

The men will face MIT in their last home match of the season Feb. 21. As of now MIT has posted a record of 8-9. A win against MIT would put them at 9-9. "They haven't had a .500 season in quite a while," Brownell said.

Brownell and her team are looking also to the team championships to be held at Yale Feb. 23-25.

"It will give us another chance at teams like F&M, Yale and Brown," Brownell said.
