Canadian demographics in Quebec secession article wre incorrect

To the Editor:

Although I thought that the article, "With Canada remaining intact, students are happy," (Nov. 1, 1995) was a good one overall, I do have a problem with it. You need to check over your statistics. Yes, Quebec is the largest province landwise, but not in population, and it is certainly not one quarter of Canada. It is second in population, with roughly five million people, compared to Ontario with nearly 10 million people. Also, since the population is approximately 29.7 million, it is certainly not one quarter the size of Canada.
