The Dartmouth

Mural painting event successful

To the Editor:

Over 100 people gathered last Saturday to paint panels of the demolition wall around the old MHMH building. Dartmouth students, and others, painted murals of gardens and deserts, made designs of handprints and footprints of varying sizes, saluted Greek houses and sports teams, immortalized dogs, and reminded a wife that her husband loves her.

The Dartmouth Chapter of Golden Key National Honor Society thanks all who contributed to the success of this event: our Facilities Planning Office, Facilities Operations and Management and Chemistry Department, and the Sherwin Williams Co. Thanks also to Subterra Sports, EBA's, and Ben & Jerry's for their generous prizes. Honorable Mentions went to Diana Smirnov, Cristia Lesher, Phi Tau, Topliff Family, Christy Carpenter, Elisabeth Barbiero and Jocelyn Singer-Sargent; third prizes to Holly Conrad, Cynthia Carlson, and Melissa Hirschl; second prize to Rosalie Kerr and Stephanie Ingram; and Fat Dog Fred took the top prize.

The mission of Golden Key's Dartmouth Chapter is to recognize academic excellence and its value to the student, the College and the community. Proceeds from the wall painting will be donated to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center.

The murals and messages will remain on display till November.Drive or walk by to see them.
