To the Editor:
I am writing to make a correction in the article "Turco will work with MADD on council" in the Monday, July 17, issue of The Dartmouth.
I was quoted as saying "[Designated driving] is unrealistic. My emphasis will be on the negative results of drinking, especially among 18, 19, and 20-year-olds."
Personally, I think the designated driver makes a lot of sense. What I believe I had stated was that the official MADD policy is not to support designated drivers who are under 21-years-old since MADD officials feel this would be acknowledging the fact that drinking occurs in individuals who are under 21-years-old.
I would support a designated driver policy since I feel that it could prevent intoxicated individuals from getting behind the wheel.
