Summer offers new opportunities

Spending the summer in Hanover provides students with many chances to make our Dartmouth experience more rewarding.

The warm summer weather opens up a world almost unimaginable under New Hampshire's normally frigid conditions. Now is the best time to pack up a picnic and take an afternoon hike in the Appalachian Trail or dive into the Connecticut River for a swim on a hot summer's night.

Idle summer afternoons provide the opportunity to get involved in something new. During the summer the pottery studio across Ledyard Bridge does not seem as far away. So take advantage of the more laid-back atmosphere -- join a new campus organization or log in some hours at the Tucker Foundation.

We are back together again as a class, midway through our time at Dartmouth. The Class of 1997 has two more years to build upon current friendships but also to create new ones.

The summer allows us to add to our Dartmouth experience by realizing all the College has to offer inside and outside the classroom.
