Eight officers were elected last night for the 1995 Class Executive Committee, the body that is in charge of fund-raising and organizing reunions for the Class of 1995 during the next five years.
Newly elected Senior Executive Committee President Kaja Shuppert said the group works to ease the transition from being Dartmouth students to alumni.
"We will serve as the leaders of our class for the next five years, until our first reunion," she said.
Students are selected to membership on the committee by their classmates. The committee then elects its officers internally.
The committee elected seniors Rebecca Slisz as alumni councilor, Candace Howell as vice president, Adrienne Kim as secretary, Hosea Harvey as treasurer and Gillian MacLean as newsletter editor.
Although Shuppert said the officers are "still learning" what their new positions will entail, the executive committee as a whole is charged with organizing class reunions, the Dartmouth Clubs around the world and fund-raising.
Shuppert said she is interested in maintaining contact with the classmates and making sure they keep their energy and enthusiasm until their first reunion.
As secretary, Kim will maintain the class record and serve as a liaison between the College and members of the Class of 1995.
"I was always very involved in activities here," Kim said. "I am glad I will have the chance to stay in touch with the other members of my class, especially as alums."
Kim said she believes the goal of the committee is to promote a sense of community among the Class of 1995 in their early years as alumni.
She said she is sure all of the officers can work well together in achieving this objective.
About 50 members of the committee were elected by the entire class at the beginning of the term, Kim said.
Of those 50 members, 20 ran for office and were elected by fellow members of the committee.
