Thanks for Strong United Way Effort

To the Editor:

As the fall term draws to a close, we write to thank the Dartmouth community for its ongoing support of the United Way at Dartmouth College (UWDC).

To date the UWDC campaign has raised more than $110,000, which is more than 75 percent of our $146,000 goal. Our success so far is due to the outstanding work of many, including --

  • Our departmental solicitors, who carry the United Way message to the college's 3,000 faculty, staff, administrators and employees.

  • The UWDC student campaign committee, including Angela B. Lee '95, Dani Brune '96, Lauren Demski '96, David Moran '96 and Michael Strahs '96, which has taken to the task with energy and enthusiasm.

  • The class of 1998 and the Green Key Society, which have embraced United Way as one of their ongoing community service projects.

  • And all of those who have contributed to the campaign, for recognizing Dartmouth's leadership role in helping provide much-needed human and social services to our Upper Valley neighbors.

If you've contributed to this year's United Way campaign, thank you. If you've not yet donated, we appreciate your consideration and hope you'll make a gift, however large or small.

Although the campaign doesn't officially close until January, we will conclude our formal solicitation on Wednesday, Nov. 23. If you have any questions or comments about the United Way at Dartmouth College, feel free to call 646-1374 or blitz "United Way."

Again, our sincere thanks, and best wishes for the coming holiday season.
