New art exhibits

The Studio Art Department has a renowned set of artists on display this month.

Four new exhibits will open in the Hopkins Center exhibition area.

The exhibits will include works of resident artist Pat Adams, Luciana Frigerio, Pat Kennan and Duncan Hewitt.

Adams' exhibit, which opened yesterday in the Jaffe-Friede and Strauss Galleries, consists primarily of oils on linen and acrylics on paper.

Adams graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California at Berkeley in 1949 and was later awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for travel in France.

She has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and has won the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters' Hassam purchase award four times.

She will give a lecture in Loew Auditorium January 18 at 4:30 p.m. followed by a reception in the Jaffe-Friede Gallery.

Frigerio's black and white photographic images will be on display in the Lower Jewett Exhibition Corridor from January 25 through February 27.

Kennan's current show, which focuses on land and sea landscapes as well as the faces of women over forty, also begins January 25 and will run through March 6 in the Upper Jewett Exhibition Corridor.

Hewitt, a sculptor from Maine, will have his pieces on display in the Barrows Rotunda beginning tomorrow. His sculptures, mostly made of metal and wood, will be exhibited through February 6.
