Alec is a freshman from Hartford, CT and plans to major in Economics or Biology. In high school Alec served as one of the Managing Editors of his school newspaper and hopes to continue writing and meeting new people while part of the D. On campus, Alec is involved in DartMun, the Dartmouth Investment Philanthropy Program, and the Club Ski team. In his spare time, Alec likes to cook and explore the outdoors.

Nine Geisel students awarded Schweitzer Fellowships

Nine first-year medical students at the Geisel School of Medicine have been awarded the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship, which provides students with funding to complete innovative projects that improve the health, safety and welfare of the community.

COVER Store to launch books program

The COVER Store in White River Junction recently launched a program called COVERBooks to sell donated books online to customers around the country, in addition to its current operations as a thrift store that sells donated materials such as furniture, appliances and building materials. Co-founded 20 years ago by Nancy Bloomfield ’99 and carpenter Simon Dennis, COVER Home Repair uses COVER Store proceeds to perform free home repairs for low-income families, the elderly and the disabled in the Upper Valley region.

Mellon Mays Fellows begin doctoral research

Seven Dartmouth Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellows began Ph.D. programs this fall, studying a variety of topics, including African American literature, policing and incarceration and undocumented immigration.
