Women should create new traditions
By Erika Meitner | August 3, 1994Wednesday nights at Dartmouth are for Greek house meetings. I learned that Freshman year when my residence hall would empty out on Wednesday nights as upperclassmen and women made the trek to Webster Avenue. Fraternities began this long Greek tradition of weekly meetings at Dartmouth in the mid-nineteenth century and coed houses and sororities have perpetuated it. The first sorority at Dartmouth was Sigma Kappa, formed in 1979.
