Women’s swim and dive finishes eighth at Ivies

This weekend told an all too familiar tale for the Big Green women’s swim and dive team, as they finished in eighth place in the Ivy League Championships for the third straight year. Despite several record-breaking performances, the women finished with 532.5 points, seven points behind seventh-place Cornell University and trailing winner Harvard University by almost 1,000.

Men’s basketball splits New York weekend

This past weekend, Dartmouth men’s basketball team commenced the second half of its conference season, vying to disentangle itself from a four-way tie at the bottom of the league standings. In its second look at its two New York-based Ivy League foes, the Big Green (9-15, 3-7 Ivy) convincingly triumphed over Cornell University (9-15, 2-8) 78-66 on Friday night, but could not sustain an early lead against Columbia University (19-8, 8-2 Ivy) on Saturday in falling apart 73-54.

Track and field sets records, sweeps podiums as it gears up for Heps

In its final tune up before the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships, the track and field team received strong individual performances at the Boston University Valentine Invitational and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Gordon Kelly Invitational this past weekend. The Valentine Invitational took place on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 12 to 13, at the BU Track and Tennis Center in Boston, while the Gordon Kelly Invitational took place on Saturday at the Johnson Athletic Center at MIT.

Men's tennis takes fifth in ECAC, women sweep weekend

Over the weekend, the No. 34 Dartmouth men’s tennis team played in the ECAC Indoor Championship in Philadelphia, which consisted of St. John’s University and all the Ivy League teams except Columbia University. The team played a total of three teams during the tournament, falling to the University of Pennsylvania in a tough 3-4 battle but rallying to defeat Brown University 4-0 and St. John’s 4-1 to secure fifth place.

Squash teams finish in top ten, men qualify for the Potter Cup

Over Winter Carnival weekend, the then No. 5 men’s squash team fell 8-1 to then No. 4, now No. 2 Yale University in Hanover, followed by a 7-2 victory over No. 16 Brown University in Providence. The team finished the regular season 9-4 and ultimately ranked seventh in the country.

Men's hockey splits against Union, No. 18 RPI

The men’s hockey team split a pair of ECAC match-ups at Thompson Arena this weekend. After falling to Union College in a 4-1 contest that was closer than the score indicated, the team earned a 2-1 come-from-behind win against No. 18 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on the strength of a Troy Crema ’17 overtime goal. The split leaves the Big Green’s record at 13-11-1, 10-8-0 ECAC, good for a tie with RPI for fifth in the ECAC.

Women's basketball sweeps road set

It was a winning weekend for Dartmouth’s women’s basketball program, as the team managed to come from behind in both match-ups to claim late-game victories. The Big Green traveled south to face Yale University and Brown University, improving their league record to 4-4 and overall record to 9-15.

Men's basketball blows first half lead over Yale, beats Brown

Desperate to escape a four-game losing streak that has cast a pall over prospects for conference success, the Dartmouth men’s basketball team entered last weekend with a chance to prove itself against the best team in the Ivy League, as well as a contest against a more evenly matched side. While the former case saw the Big Green (8-14, 2-6) relinquish a once-stable lead to lose 75-65 to Yale University (17-5, 8-0) on Friday, the team rebounded the following night to decisively triumph over Brown University (7-15, 2-6) 87-70.


Women’s hockey, basketball, tennis and track events were free to alumnae.

Dartmouth athletics hosts Women’s Sports Weekend

Last week, Dartmouth hosted the Women’s Sports Weekend, which seeks to connect women and young girls to Big Green athletics. The weekend featured a bevy of games and meets including two women’s hockey games, two women’s basketball games, the women’s tennis ECAC Championship and the Dartmouth Classic indoor track and field meet.

Swim and dive teams drop final dual meet in New York City

In the final meet of the dual meet season, the Big Green men and women’s swim and dive teams were defeated by Columbia University. The men won six events while the women won four, The men’s team lost by a total score of 172-127 and the women’s team lost 189-111.
