The 1996 Ivy League Champions never trailed at halftime of any game. In fact, they only trailed once in the second half all year. The Big Green scored the first points in eight of their 10 contests. They posted two Ivy League shutouts for the first time since 1990. Dartmouth's offense was the most proficient in the Ivy League, averaging 27.5 points per game while the defense was the stingiest, allowing just over 10 points a contest. The end result -- the first 10-0 season in Dartmouth history.

The Big Green couldn't have dreamed of a better execution of their game plan against Columbia. They went in knowing they needed to balance their offense, play strong run defense, control the clock and not turn the ball over. They did just that to gain their first shutout in four years, humiliating the Lions, 40-0, on Saturday afternoon. The margin of victory was the largest over an Ivy League opponent this year.

The long anticipated matchup between Dartmouth and Columbia for first place in the Ivy League and an inside track to the league title is finally upon us. But a funny thing happened on the way to this clash of unbeaten titans. Columbia lost. However, the game still puts what many people believe to be the two best teams in the Ivy League on the field to decide the direction of the title hunt.

However, when Crimson placekicker Ryan Korinke's 39-yard field goal hit the right upright as time expired to give Dartmouth a hard fought 6-3 victory, nobody seemed to care about anything but the scoreboard.
