Janos Marton '04 announced in December his decision to run in April as a petition candidate for the open Board of Trustees seat. Marton, who served as student body president for two consecutive years during his time at the College, is a student at Fordham Law School.

Gail Koziara Boudreaux '82 will be presented with one of the six 2007 NCAA Silver Anniversary awards on Jan. 7, the NCAA announced last week. The award recognizes former standout student-athletes in various sports who have gone on to excel in their chosen professions.

A record 38.5 percent of all living alumni turned out to vote on the much-hyped and highly controversial proposed alumni constitution over the past six weeks, resulting in its eventual rejection by 51 percent of voters last Thursday.

Thousands of alumni flocked back to Hanover this weekend for Homecoming, but many don't have to leave their home to feel connected -- for better or for worse -- to what's happening at Dartmouth. Since voting on the proposed alumni constitution began over a month ago, the various groups for and against the proposed constitution have stepped up their campaigning efforts, hitting alumni with numerous phone calls and e-mails.

Social options seemed limited at the beginning of Fall term, with five Greek organizations on probation and prohibited from hosting parties or serving alcohol. Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity became the sixth member of the abnormally long list of those fraternities and sororities serving probation this term on Tuesday. Additionally, Alpha Chi Alpha fraternity is currently under investigation and Psi Upsilon fraternity was recently investigated for College policy violations during the beginning of the term.

Students worked for the Office of Alumni Relations' "Vox the Vote" campaign during a four-hour "phonefest" in the top of the Hopkins Center on Saturday. The phonefest, the first of five scheduled over the next three weeks, encouraged alumni participation in the ongoing vote on the proposed Alumni Association constitution and petition amendments.

Meredith Cashman '06 was recently selected as a top 10 contestant in Matty Idol, a Boston-area American Idol spinoff. She auditioned with more than 300 people and is now competing for a chance to make it to the final three and sing alongside Nick Lachey and other artists at the KISS concert in Boston on Saturday, May 20. Voting for the top 10 takes place on the Kiss 108 website. After the concert, a winner will be chosen through text message voting to win $10,000. The final rounds of the competition take place today, tomorrow, Friday and Saturday.

Dean of Faculty Carol Folt and Dean of the Social Sciences Michael Mastanduno addressed growing concerns about class size and oversubscription at the Student Assembly meeting Tuesday night. Representatives from the Club Sports Commission also presented their report at the meeting.
